Acupuncture in Exeter

Chinese Aromatherapy

In addition to providing acupuncture in Exeter, I also provide acupuncture for fertility, cosmetic acupuncture and Chinese aromatherapy.  In China the healing properties of essential oils and aromatic plants have been well known for almost 5000 years. According to Chinese medical theory essential oils have specific energetic affects on the body; some tonify whilst others sedate; some move to the body’s surface or the extremities, whilst others penetrate deeply to affect organ function.

Essential oils can be cooling, warming or neutral. Oil blends are chosen using Chinese medical theory to develop individualised blends. The blend is holistic, in that it is not just addressing the presenting health problem, but will consider all aspects of the individual, including their general health and emotional make up.   Several people presenting with digestive problems will have different essential oil blends, as their symptoms and their constitutional energy may differ considerably. For example, a person, who experiences bloating, tends to suffer from diarrhoea and generally feels cold and lethargic would not be given an essential oil blend of a cooling nature, whereas, a person suffering from constant insatiable hunger, heartburn, thirst and irritability would be. Individualised oil prescriptions are applied to acupuncture points or acupuncture channels related to the specific health problem.

Aromatherapy is given alongside acupuncture to enhance treatment.
